Lemongrass - 100g

HK$2100

Origin

Thailand

Storage

To keep lemongrass fresh and flavorful for as long as possible, it's important to store it properly. Trim off the root end and any dry or yellow leaves. Store lemongrass in the refrigerator in a plastic bag or airtight container. Lemongrass can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. When you're ready to use lemongrass, remove the outer layer and finely chop the tender inner stalks.

Nutrition

Lemongrass is a minor source of potassium to balance fluid levels within the body, calcium to build strong bones and teeth, vitamin C to strengthen the immune system, and vitamin A to maintain healthy organ functioning. The stalks also provide low amounts of manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus and contain antioxidants to protect the cells against the damage caused by free radicals. In addition to vitamins and minerals, Lemongrass is incorporated into natural medicines to flush the body of toxins and excess water, relieve headaches, and relax the mind. Lemongrass is commonly seen in Ayurvedic treatments and is viewed as a cooling herb, consumed in drinks, inhaled as aromatherapy, or extracted for its oil and mixed with lotions and creams for topical applications.

Packaging

100g, loose in paper bag.

Highlights

Lemon Grass is best used as a bright and herbal flavoring, traditionally infused into dishes and used as a finishing element. The greens can be finely chopped and scattered over salads, mixed into stir-fries, or used to flavor salad dressings, marinades, and sauces. The slender leaves can be pureed with other herbs and served as an accompaniment to seafood, minced and mixed into lo main and other noodle dishes. It pairs well with coconut milk, Thai basil, meats such as pork, beef, and poultry, seafood including mussels, clams, fish, shrimp, and scallops, aromatics such as garlic, ginger, shallots, and chili peppers, citrus, bell peppers, green beans, and cauliflower.
